Shannon Park, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Shannon Park & Wallis Heights were former military communities. They housed sailors and their families that served for the Canadian Navy apart of World War Two. In 2004 they were both closed due to the cutbacks reducing the number of personal serving in the navy. Housing also became available on the civilian market during these times. Residents who were still residing in these two places were re-located to Willow Park and the housing and structures have now fallen into a decay. It is suspected that these could have housed close to 300 families and they have now gone into rehabilitation due to the toxic mold inhabiting them. It is so sad to see all of this housing go to complete waste and become a toxic site for Dartmouth. See pictures below taken April 28th 2015 while on my visit in Nova Scotia.
